Achuma Cactus Incense – Trichocereus Bridgesii
Achuma Cactus – Trichocereus Bridgesii has a long Shamanic tradition of use throughout its homeland in the high Bolivian desserts. It is perhaps the most powerful and magical of the Trichocereus cacti. Trichocereus bridgesii has been reported to contain highest alkaloid content of the Shamanic cactus family. The cactus is most commonly used in the preparation of making soaps, dyes, and incense. Some people call this plant the “Penis plant” or “San Pedro penis”, it is also sometimes described as “The Pornographic Cactus’ or the “The More Sensual of Cacti”. The German name for this cultivar “Frauenglück” is more poetic than its English equivalent; it translates as “Women’s Pleasure”.
This cactus has gained much popularity among cactus collectors in recent years. Like pachanoi, it has huge, white blooms that make it an attractive landscaping cactus. It grows a little bit slower than pachanoi but is still a rapid grower, making it one of several trichocereus species that work well as a grafting stock for slower-growing cacti such as astrophytum and ariocarpus..
