Heimia Salicifolia is a deciduous shrub with small narrow leaves and yellow flowers growing up from 0.5 – 3 meters tall. Other people call it Sinicuichi, shrubby yellowcrest or sun opener and it grows wild from Mexico to Argentina. The foliage of this shrub has been utilized medicinally and psychoactively recording back to the time of the Aztecs. Shamans continue to use this plant today. They use dry or fresh leaves for the preparation of a decoction or tea which reportedly causes euphoric, muscle-relaxed and anti-inflammatory effects. It has also be used to stabilize blood pressure, reduce anxiety, and treat syphilitic diseases. Others smoke the dried leaves of the plant.
